It was the second year in a row that hooligans took over the streets after the Dodgers won the series.
“If LAPD don’t disperse tear gas against celebratory Dodger’s fans do they really even win the World Series?” quipped one observer who posted video on X.
“Throw it right back into their faces,” one reveler can be heard saying.
It was the ball club’s second series win in a row. After the Dodgers’ 2024 series win, violence and looting broke out in some areas of the city.
It was not immediately clear if any officers were injured during Saturday night and Sunday morning’s street chaos.
Video on X also showed a Waymo self-driving car being vandalized, with one X poster writing, “Another Waymo down in Los Angeles as geniuses celebrate the dodgers win. Nothing less for Gavin Newsom California.”
Self-driving Waymo cars, which cost over $200,000 to build, appear to be the vehicle of choice to destroy in out-of-control street rioting, as several were also destroyed during immigration enforcement protests in the city in June.
The street celebrations broke out after the Dodgers’ tense but thrilling Game Seven comeback win over the Toronto Blue Jays in extra innings.
The Dodgers triumphed 5-4 over Toronto after catcher Will Smith hit the go-ahead home run in the 11th inning.
Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, pitching with only one day’s rest, ended the Blue Jay’s hopes at the bottom of the inning, stunning a packed stadium of Toronto fans, when the Blue Jays hit into a double play.
