Sgt. Ray Ormond confirmed with ABC4 that the woman, who has not been publicly identified, was hiking with a group around noon on July 1, when she collapsed on the Stewart Falls trail near Sundance.
The woman’s group immediately attempted life-saving measures until emergency medical responders could arrive and take over. Sgt. Ormond and medical personnel rapidly hiked to her location and resumed life-saving measures, but she unfortunately passed away.
Ormond said crews are actively in the process of recovering the woman off the trail as of the latest update at 2 p.m.
