“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Trump previously confirmed reports that Kirk had died, and highlighted how “no one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
Deseret News reported that “reporters on the scene” said Kirk was “shot during a Q&A with students,” and that he “appeared to be hit in the neck.”

Kirk, 31, co-founded Turning Point USA, one of the largest conservative organizations for high school and college students. He is a popular podcast and cable news host. He is married and has two children.
“Heartbroken and outraged by the assassination of Charlie Kirk,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote in a post on X. “He was an incredible husband and father and a great American. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord.”
