The New York City mayoral race has reached its home stretch, with early voting starting this Saturday and election day on November 4.
The race has been followed nationwide in large part due to the 34-year-old candidate Zohran Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist.

The remaining candidates — Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa — took to the stage on Wednesday for the final mayoral debate before the election. Things got tense yet again between Mamdani and Cuomo, and at one point, Mamdani brought up the allegations of sexual assault against Cuomo. Mamdani’s X account posted a clip of the interaction, and it’s gone viral.
“Mr. Cuomo, in 2021, 13 different women who worked in your administration credibly accused you of sexual harassment,” Mamdani begins in the clip. “Since then, you have spent more than 20 million dollars in taxpayer funds to defend yourself, all while describing these allegations as entirely political.”
“You have even gone so far as to legally go after these women. One of those women, Charlotte Bennett, is here in the audience this evening,” he says. The crowd audibly gasps.
“You sought to access her private gynecological records. She cannot speak up for herself because you lodged a defamation case against her.”
“I, however, can speak. What do you say to the 13 women that you sexually harassed?,” Mamdani asks Cuomo directly.

Cuomo flounders while the audience cheers and claps. “If you want to be in government, you have to be serious and mature,” he finally says.
People were impressed with Mamdani and extremely disappointed with Cuomo’s response. “The violation of 13 woman’s bodies and rights is very serious. Acting like it isn’t is immature and irresponsible,” one person wrote.
Another said his fumbling for words “Speaks volumes.”
And one person simply said, “Oh, it’s over.”
