A Georgia Power employee will face charges after a deadly crash in Putnam County on Wednesday.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Sara and James Abbott died in the crash on Georgia Hwy 16.
Investigators said Matthew Crumbley, 26, was driving a 2021 Ford F-150 westbound when he turned his work truck into the path of the Abbotts’ 2018 Ford Flex that was heading eastbound.

The couple died at the scene. Crumbley was taken to the hospital in Macon.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Crumbley will be charged with homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to yield turning left, all misdemeanor charges. Crumbly will surrender himself to the sheriff’s office upon his release.
Georgia Power sent Channel 2 Action News the following statement:
“On behalf of Georgia Power, and the employee involved, our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the family of this couple. This is truly a heartbreaking and tragic accident, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation.”
