Bible sales soared 36 percent in September compared to the same month in 2024, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing data from the publishing sales tracker Circana BookScan.
Prior to September, sales of the Christian holy book averaged around 1.5 million units per month in 2025, according to the report. After the public assassination of Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, Bible sales shot up to 2.4 million.
Besides being an extremely influential conservative firebrand and heading a massively successful youth grassroots organization, Kirk was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. The 31-year-old father of two never shied away from sharing his Christian beliefs on his podcast and on college campuses, and he traveled to churches around the country while launching TPUSA Faith.
Kirk often spoke about how his conservative views were based on the Bible and once said he would most “want to be remembered for courage for my faith.” Many have called Kirk a Christian martyr, noting that he was killed at a debating event where he was sharing his views based on his faith in Jesus.
Many churches and conservatives have reported the rumblings of Christian revival since Kirk’s death. Reports have indicated an increase in church attendance since Kirk was killed, and colleges across the country have seen mass baptism events and conversions.
HarperCollins Christian Publishing reported seeing an increase in people between 18 and 34 years old being interested in the Bible.
Mark Schoenwald, president and chief executive of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, told the Journal Kirk’s death “awakened a lot of people.”
“They started to think about what they believe and why,” Schoenwald said.
Brenna Connor, an analyst at Circana BookScan, assessed that people often turn to faith turning tumultuous times.
“September brought a wave of troubling events — violence, geopolitical tensions, and economic uncertainty — underscoring a pattern: In times of crisis, more people turn to faith for comfort and support,” Connor told the publication.
Kirk’s wife Erika spoke about revival at Charlie’s memorial held in Arizona on Sept. 21 and encouraged Americans to go to church and seek a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
“This past week, we saw people open a Bible for the first time in a decade. We saw people pray for the first time since they were children. We saw people go to a church service for the first time in their entire lives,” she said.
President Donald Trump honored Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk posthumously with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Oct. 14, which would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday.
