The educator, identified as Oskaloosa High School teacher Matthew Kargol, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the matter, school leaders confirmed in a press release shared by the Oskaloosa News on Thursday.
“We learned of the post at about 5:15 p.m. on September 10 and moved promptly overnight to address it. We will keep you informed when we have more to report,” the announcement read.

On Wednesday, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) shared a screenshot of the alleged post from Kargol, which read “1 Nazi down.”
Miller-Meeks stated, “I’m disturbed by a post from an Oskaloosa teacher celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk and calling him a Nazi. Cheering political violence is always wrong — and should NEVER be done by those who educate our children. I will be contacting the superintendent and principal first thing in the morning to ensure this is addressed immediately.”
Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in a political assassination, per Breitbart News.
The outlet reported Thursday that “shortly after the shocking assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, many leftists took to social media to mock, deride, and laugh at Kirk with many expressing happiness at his death. A new website, named Charlie’s Murderers, aims to expose those that attacked Kirk in his final moments.”
In the months before he was killed, Kirk sounded the alarm about the growing “assassination culture” on the left.

In response to the tragic event and grief that is sweeping the nation, Breitbart News’s Joel B. Pollak wrote on Wednesday that “Charlie Kirk’s assassination will change American politics forever by prompting a long-overdue crackdown on the radical left.”
He continued:
Had this horrific event taken place under a Democratic administration, we would expect that attention would focus on gun control.
Because it has taken place under a Republican administration that has already taken aim at the bastions of the institutional left, we can expect a dramatic law enforcement response.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said Thursday he will be honoring Kirk posthumously with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in America, because “Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people.”
The president made the announcement during a 9/11 observance event at the Pentagon.
