“I think that people are rising all over this country for good reasons. I’m here to be part of that uprising. And to protest all this, especially the deportations. They’re grabbing people who are here legally, and they’re throwing them to jail with no due process.”

“We’ve got this oligarch from South Africa, stripping all of our society elements that are for the people, and trying to aggrandize it for a minority of powerful and rich, in a rigged system that benefits them and not us.”
“They have outlawed the use of certain words and phrases. They are arresting people for voicing their opinions. It has got to stop. That’s our country’s premise, freedom of speech.”
Protesters in the capital city chanted “Trump must go now” as they marched to the White House, with many people voicing concerns over citizens’ right to due process, among other issues.
Since his January inauguration, Trump and his billionaire ally, Elon Musk, have gutted the federal government, firing over 200,000 workers and attempting to dismantle various agencies.
The administration has also detained scores of foreign students and threatened to stop federal funding to universities over diversity, equity and inclusion programs, climate initiatives and pro-Palestinian protests. Rights groups have condemned the policies.
Demonstrations were also held in New York City and Chicago, among dozens of other locations. It marked the second day of nationwide demonstrations since Trump took office.
